How your age is calculated
Age is counted the way people usually say it: whole years first, then whole months, then the remaining days. A month is complete when the same day of the month comes round again. When that day doesn't exist in a shorter month, the last day of that month counts instead, so someone born on 31 January turns one month old on 28 February (29 in a leap year).
The same rule covers 29 February birthdays: in common years the birthday falls on 28 February, and in leap years on 29 February. Some legal systems use 1 March instead, so check if an exact legal date matters.
Totals count every calendar day between the two dates using the Gregorian calendar, including leap days. Hours and weeks are worked out from those whole days, from midnight to midnight. The "age at" date defaults to today in your own time zone.
